Apple has just made available for download iTunes 12.5.4 for both macOS running Macs and Windows running PCs.
This release follows out on the heels of macOS Sierra 10.12.2 which has started rolling out to Mac users around the globe today. iTunes 12.5.4 comes approximately one and a half month after previous iTunes update – version 12.5.3 – and brings with it some new features and fixes. Here will take a look at all of these changes that are new to iTunes 12.5.4 for macOS and Windows.
The first new change in iTunes 12.5.4 is the added support for the TV app which went public yesterday as part of iOS 10.2 for iPhone/iPad and tvOS 10.1 for Apple TV. For those who don’t already know, Apple’s TV app is a central hub which connects video apps from different service and TV providers, as well as content purchased from iTunes, in one single interface.
In addition to TV app support, this new version of iTunes also adds support for Touch Bar on 2016 MacBook Pro. The new support for Touch Bar in MacBook Pro allows users to use scrubber control on Touch Bar to forward or rewind the music or video being played using iTunes.
Last but not the least is inclusion of the usual minor app and performance improvements.
Here’s the full official changelog:
This update adds support for the new TV app on iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, and Apple TV. And with Touch Bar on the new MacBook Pro, use the scrubber to easily go to different parts of songs, movies, TV shows, and more.
It also includes minor app and performance improvements.
Mac users can launch Mac App Store right now and grab the latest iTunes update from under Updates tab. Windows users can do the same using Apple Software Update utility to get onto the latest version of iTunes.
