Apple Releases Beta 3 Of tvOS 11.3 And macOS 10.13.4

Apple has officially released beta 3 of tvOS 11.3 and macOS 10.13.4 to those registered on Apple Developer Program.

The latest pre-release seeds allow developers with compatible Apple TV and Mac hardware to install the relevant platform and interrogate any changes made with immediate effect.

The third betas of the above platforms instantly show that Apple is consistently pushing to get macOS 10.13.4 and tvOS 11.3 ready to be released to the public as soon as possible.

tvOS 11.3: Apple has made a number of small but notable changes with tvOS 11.3. Tim Cook’s company has brought a new Privacy explaining screen when the software is launched as well as implementing a new section which explains how a user’s data is managed. Apple has also integrated a lot of work around HomeKit, ensuring that Apple TV will show up in the Home app on iOS with tvOS 11.3 and iOS 11.3 installed. Apple TV 4 also now supports frame rate matching with tvOS 11.3.

macOS 10.13.4: macOS 10.13.4 isn’t a huge update but is one that Mac owners will want to have installed, especially if they are running iOS 11.3 on iPhone or iPad. The new Messages in iCloud feature makes a comeback with this latest macOS release, as does a warning pulled straight out of iOS which warns that 32-bit-only apps are being phased out and that they may not work in a future version of macOS.

As and when these latest beta releases are investigated and inspected we will let you know if any new major functionality or features have slipped in. Until then, any developer involved in testing with compatible firmware – whether that be Apple TV or Mac – can grab the latest releases right now through the relevant update mechanisms and start testing.
