The jailbreak scene seems to be almost constantly in the midst of a return to form, with some of the best tweaks we have seen currently on offer via the Cydia jailbreak store. One new tweak to grab our attention currently is App Center, and it’s available to download via the BigBoss repository for $3.99 right now.
So what do you get for your $4? As you can see from the video embedded at the end, App Center is an app switcher of sorts, but it’s more than simply another way to choose which recent app you want to switch to. At its core, App Center does bring recently used apps to a page in Control Center, so there is certainly a little bit of app switching going on here, but it goes beyond that.
Firing up Control Center and swiping over to the App Center page, users can check out all of their recently used apps, but tapping the icon of an app doesn’t launch it as such. Instead, users are given the app running inside an additional Control Center page.
The app is fully interactive, but is more easily switched to and away from via this method of multitasking when compared to more traditional options. The size of the card that the app runs in can be customized too, making it larger or smaller depending on the user’s preference.
Apps, once tapped, live in live form in Control Center and a swipe takes users back to the list of recent apps if so desired. It’s all rather slick.
As is often the case with these things though, explaining what makes App Center so interesting isn’t very easy, but if you check the video out for yourself, then you will surely see what makes us so impressed with this tweak. At $4, it is far from expensive, and if you are a heavy multitasker, then this will be well worth the money.
